About the Program
In Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) students gain experience and knowledge in food production and service skills in the Boiler Bistro and John Purdue Room, and from internships (in the United States and abroad) at convention and visitor bureaus, resorts, sports facilities, restaurants, and hotels. Students develop critical thinking ability and a broad perspective in human resource management, hospitality law, accounting, finance, marketing, information systems, international relations, senior living, and transportation. Students can choose concentrations in the following areas: Environment Sustainability, Human Resources, Layout and Design, Marketing/Sales.

Environment Sustainability Concentration (ENSU)
Total Credits: In addition to HTM 37000 , Sustainable Tourism and Responsible Travel, the student must choose three courses (9 credits) from the list below. Total of 12 credits.
Hospitality Facilities Design and Management Concentration (HFDM)
Total Credits: Select four courses, 12 credits, from the list below.
Human Resources Concentration (XIHU)
Total Credits: Students must complete a minimum of 12 credits from the list below with no more than two courses from any one area. Students may not count both COM 37500 and OLS 47700 as part of the required 12 credits.
Marketing and Sales Concentration (MRSL)
Total Credits: In addition to completing HTM 33100 , Hospitality and Tourism Sales and Service, students must choose three courses listed below for a total of 12 credits.
Finance for HTM (FMGT)
Total Credits: 15. A grade of a C- or better must be earned in any course used to fulfill the concentration. There are four topic areas currently required by the HTM major that will serve as the foundation for this concentration. Each of those areas have two courses that meet both HTM and Krannert School of Management requirements. 1. An introductory economics course: ECON 21000 or ECON 25100 2. An introductory financial accounting course: HTM 14100 or MGMT 20000 3. An introductory managerial accounting course: HTM 24100 or MGMT 20100 4. An introductory probability or introductory statistics course: STAT 22500 or STAT 30100 Notes

Students must earn a “C-” or better in all required HTM courses.
2.0 Graduation GPA required for Bachelor of Science degree.
