About the Program

Theatre Design and Production is for students who desire a program of study intended to provide pre-professional training for a career in design, technology, or management in the entertainment industry. Working as part of a team, the student learns to communicate and collaborate in a creative environment. Each student may choose to focus in any given area. Upon completion, the student may pursue a career in the theatre or related areas, or explore advanced training and/or graduate study.

Liberal Arts Core Curriculum


Each liberal arts major is designed as a four-year plan of study and includes three types of courses: Major, Core, and Elective. Most students take five courses per semester, with some of each type.

Professional academic advisors meet individually with each of our students on a regular basis to help with course selection, academic planning, and career development, as well as to help students find additional resources on campus.

Departmental/Program Major Courses (45 credits)


Students should include THTR 20100 as a choice in fulfilling the CLA core Requirements.

Other Departmental/Program Course Requirements (57 credits)

Notes


A Minimum Grade of “C-” or better is required for a THTR course to be counted towards the major.  The P/NP option is not available for this requirement.

2.0 Graduation GPA required for Bachelor of Arts degree.

32 credit hours of Purdue coursework at the 30000 level or higher required for Bachelor of Arts degree.

Liberal Arts offers a streamlined plan of study for students pursuing a second degree outside of CLA. Contact the CLA Advising Office for more information.

Foreign Language Courses


Foreign Language proficiency requirements vary by program.
