AAE 20400 - Aeromechanics II Credit Hours: 3.00. Loads on aircraft. Strain, stress, and equations of equilibrium. Description of aircraft structures and materials. Torsion of shafts. Fuselage and wing structures. Symmetrical bending and stiffness analysis of solid and stringer-panel box beams. Structural failures. Learning Outcomes 1. Describe the material behavior of deformable bodies when subjected to loads.
2. Create and use free-body diagrams to compute resultant support forces and moments.
3. Compute internal force and moment distributions.
4. Properly select and use materials based upon their mechanical properties.
5. Compute stresses, strains, deformation and displacements of basic structural components.
6. Predict structural integrity based on the calculations.
7. Apply these ideas for analysis of components related to aerospace applications. Credits: 3.00
