EDCI 21000 - Education Scholars Program I


Credit Hours: 1.00 to 3.00.  EDCI 21000 is the first course in a two course, introductory sequence for College of Education students enrolled in the Honors College and/or DeVito Program scholarship recipients. In this course, we will examine key concepts and ideas in educational thought and research, understand what research is, and begin to explore individual students’ research interests.
Learning Outcomes
1. Introduced to key concepts and ideas in educational thought, e.g. democracy; diversity; equity; teaching, learning, and testing; creativity; and technology.
2. Examine how educational researchers conceptualize and conduct research.
3. Explore research interests in education, and how to access resources to further develop those interests.
4. Introduced to campus-based academic resources.
5. Complete multiple writing assignments to develop scholarly writing skills.
