MSE 44000 - Materials Processing And Design II


Credit Hours: 3.00.  Continuation and completion of the materials project or study initiated in MSE 43000 and presentation of a written dissertation on the results and conclusions. Competence in technical writing is emphasized in the preparation of the dissertation.  
Learning Outcomes
1.  Exhibit effective oral and written communication.
2.  Become aware of the complexity of working in teams to achieve goals, including issues related to the importance of individual ownership of project assignments, communication, leadership roles, establishing goals, and recognizing a diversity of talents among group members.
3.  Have a basic understanding of different ethical systems, including legal positivism, ethical egoism, utilitarianism, deontological, etc.
4.  Understand consequences of unethical behavior in the profession.
5.  Understand and apply the basic tools of engineering design.
6.  Draw simple logic diagrams that relate the important precedent relationships for tasks required to complete an engineering program.
7.  Develop and learn necessary modelling, processing and characterization tools needed to successfully execute the project.
8.  Use statistical analysis to infer conclusions from experiments.
