ANTH 21000 - Technology And Culture (UCC: STS) Credit Hours: 3.00. This course explores the social dimensions of technology from the perspective of ancient, modern, and post-modern society. Topics include the origins of particular technologies; processes of technical development and dissemination; the politics of everyday artifacts; virtual identities; and technologies of the body. Suggested courses (not pre-requisite): ANTH 10000, 20100 and/or 20500. Learning Outcomes 1. Describe the origins and social consequences of technologies. 2. Analyze technology as a social process and debate the inevitability of technological progress. 3. Interpret the complex interplay between technical fields and social identity. 4. Summarize science and technology over time and across diverse places. Credits: 3.00
