MA 35100 - Elementary Linear Algebra (UCC: QR)

Credit Hours: 3.00.  Systems of linear equations, finite dimensional vector spaces, matrices, determinants, eigenvalues and eigenvector applications to analytical geometry. Not open to students with credit in MA 26500.
Learning Outcomes
1.  Solve systems of linear equations using concepts such as vector spaces, linear dependence, and Gaussian elimination. 2.  Understand and test for linear independence, calculate the dimension of vector spaces, and apply the rank-nullity theorem in various contexts. 3.  Define and apply linear transformations, including matrix multiplication, inverses, LU factorization, and coordinate transformations. 4.  Compute and understand determinants, including their use in calculating matrix inverses and practical applications such as volume calculations. 5.  Analyze and compute eigenvectors and eigenvalues, and apply diagonalization techniques.
