HONR 19901 - Honors First Yr Experience I Credit Hours: 1.00. All JMHC students take this 1 credit course each semester (fall and spring) of their first year. This “Honors First Year Experience” is designed to introduce students to college-level honors education. Learning outcomes include how to be flexible thinkers, inclusive collaborators, and ethical leaders. In fall, students explore interdisciplinary topics in small seminars with dedicated faculty and work in groups with JMHC student mentors in “world readiness” labs. Learning Outcomes 1. Identify and analyze complex and global issues/events/perspectives.
2. Identify approaches to interdisciplinary scholarship.
3. Evaluate and summarize literature from multiple disciplines.
4. Practice strategies for inclusive and equitable engagement across differences through in-class discussions and group activities.
5. Recognize the mission of the JMHC - what the college stands for, what it offers to students, and what students can offer the JMHC community.
6. Develop inclusive and equitable collaborative and teamwork skills. Credits: 1.00
