MGMT 63000 - Legal And Social Foundations Of Management Credit Hours: 2.00 to 4.00. An examination of the nature of the legal environment from the viewpoint of the social and moral bases of law. Emphasis is given to the operation of our legal system and its significance in decision functions of management. Prerequisite: Master’s student standing and Management majors only. Learning Outcomes 1. Recommend appropriate actions in the business environment based on an understanding sources of law, legal process and procedure, and available remedies
determine appropriate actions in the business environment based on an understanding of agency law concepts and employment laws, focusing on Title VII and related laws.
2. Analyze contractual rights, obligations, liabilities, and remedies in the business environment.
3. Evaluate tort rights, obligations, liabilities, and remedies in the business environment.
4. Identify the legal constraints faced by the business professional as well as the legal options available to the business professional in responding to and resolving legal issues.
5. Recognize and analyze the laws that affect contemporary businesses, including the laws relating to agency and employment, securities regulation, the organization of a business, and the legal liability of accountants.
6. Describe the ways in which various effect governmental regulations affect contemporary business practices.
7. Evaluate ethical problems that are integrally connected to the legal issues. Credits: 2.00 to 4.00
