MGMT 61000 - Financial Management


Credit Hours: 0.00 to 4.00.  Analysis of short-term working capital needs. Cash budgeting procedures, pro forma statements, major types of short-term loan arrangements, and short-term asset management. Prerequisite: MGMT 60000, Master’s student standing or higher and Management and Computational Finance majors only. 
Learning Outcomes
1. Explain how the Statement of Cash Flows can be used to diagnose operating performance and describe the calculation and use of financial ratios.
2. Define financial ratio analysis and explain how ratios reflect financial performance.
3. Examine how a company’s financial plan is shaped by a company’s operating strategy.
4. Recognize how seasonal patterns of activity affect a company’s financial plan.
5. Discuss long-term financial planning.
6. Compare compounding interest rates, discounting cash flows, and bond valuation.
7. Recognize techniques used in project analyses and capital budgeting, as well as incremental cost and revenue in capital project analysis.
8. Apply capital structure theory in practice.
