TLI 26200 - Foundations Of Integrated STEM Education


Credit Hours: 3.00.  This course provides students with a conceptual understanding of an integrated approach to teaching Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Integrated STEM pedagogies include project/problem-based (PBL), design-based, and inquiry-based approaches to teaching. Students engage in a co-teaching model to deliver STEM instruction and observe local K-12 classrooms.
Learning Outcomes
“1. Identify foundational learning theories that blend an integrated approach to teaching.
2. Identify common practices for scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematicians and similarities with other STEM careers.
3. Describe the key tenants of PBL, design-based, and scientific inquiry-based approaches to teaching content.
4. Create integrated STEM lessons that address two STEM subjects and state/national standards.
