EDPS 23500 - Learning And Motivation (UCC: BSS) Credit Hours: 2.00 or 3.00. Introduction to concepts of learning and motivation in educational contexts (i.e., Educational Psychology). Influence of development, culture, and individual differences on learning and motivation. Uses of assessment and technology in promoting learning and motivation. A field-based experiential component is included. Learning Outcomes 1. Understanding of the learning processes including the role of previous experiences and the constructive nature of learning, cognitive constraints, and the role of the social environment. 2. Understanding of the principles of cognitive, personal, social, and moral development. 3. Understanding of principles of motivation including how to initiate and maintain student engagement. 4. Understand the fundamental assessment concepts including the purpose of assessment, the importance of alignment to instructional goals, and the interpretation and use of data. 5. Understanding of the creation of environments conducive for learning. Credit Hours: 2.00 or 3.00
