EDCI 43400 - Literacy Teaching And Learning In Secondary Schools
Credit Hours: 2.00. Exploration and development of various instructional methods and materials appropriate for supporting adolescent literacy in secondary English (i.e., middle and high school English Language Arts), including the teaching of reading. Content-area literacy methods and materials are also addressed. Includes a field experience of up to 20 hours in a secondary English school setting.
Learning Outcomes
1. Explore multiple, diverse, research-based instructional strategies and materials to support the teaching of secondary English literacy.
2. Explore multiple, diverse, research-based instructional strategies and materials to support the teaching of content-area literacy.
3. Support the development of pedagogical competency through continued work with issues of teaching and learning in secondary English.
