EDCI 36303 - Literacy Teaching And Assessment In K-6


Credit Hours: 2.00 to 3.00.  This undergraduate course in elementary education provides teacher candidates with classroom and practicum experiences focused on literacy intervention for students experiencing reading difficulties. Grounded in the Science of Reading, the course emphasizes structured literacy, assessment administration and analysis, and data-driven instruction. Teacher candidates will teach weekly in local elementary schools, applying evidence-based strategies to support foundational literacy skills. Through hands-on practice, reflection, and collaboration, students will learn to interpret assessment data, monitor progress, and make informed instructional decisions to meet diverse learner needs.
