POL 50601 - Data, Machine Learning, And Artificial Intelligence For The Public Sector Credit Hours: 3.00. This course examines how machine learning algorithms and tools related to artificial intelligence can be used to advance our understanding in public sector domains. Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of how to apply AI and various machine learning algorithms, focusing on practical applications and hands-on experience. It provides an overview public sector data sources and addresses ethical and privacy issues associated with this type of data. Learning Outcomes 1. Identify, construct, and manipulate public data ethically and appropriately for use in AI and machine learning applications. 2. Explain privacy and ethical considerations associated with the use of public sector data, including issues that arise when combining public and private sector data. 3. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of popular AI and machine learning algorithms, including supervised and unsupervised learning techniques. 4. Apply AI and machine learning techniques to real-world data sets, emphasizing those techniques commonly used in government, policy, and political settings. 5.
