SCOM 56000 - Intelligent Manufacturing Management


Credit Hours: 2.00 or 3.00.  Manufacturing plays a central role in the global economy. Recent advances driven by Artificial Intelligence and Industry 4.0 have been rapidly transforming how products are designed and produced. These changes highlight the importance of understanding analytics and modern manufacturing settings. This course offers an introduction to the core tools used to design, analyze, and improve manufacturing processes and product quality. Key topics include process management, multiproduct operations, material requirements planning, value stream mapping, statistical process control, lean manufacturing, additive manufacturing, Industry 4.0, and AI applications in manufacturing.
Learning Outcomes
1.  Explain and apply major concepts, techniques, and models of process design and analysis to improve process performance. 2.  Explain and apply major tools for conformance quality control and performance quality improvement. 3.  Use analytical methods and tools to support decision-making in manufacturing planning. 4.  Describe advanced manufacturing concepts, including additive manufacturing and AI-based solutions and explain their implications for modern production systems. 5.  Identify and analyze emerging manufacturing trends and their potential impact on operations.
