ECON 54200 - Economics, Business And Pricing Strategies Credit Hours: 2.00. The course “Economics, Business and Pricing Strategies” studies optimal decision-making processes made by managers and policy makers within firms and other organizations. The course is based on microeconomics and applies advanced microeconomics related concepts with an emphasis on pricing strategies. The course covers topics such as Monopolies and Multiproduct Firms, Price Discrimination, Optimal Pricing Strategies and Applications, Advanced Strategic Decision Making, Market Competition and Firm Dynamics, New Product Introductions, Product Variety, Preemption, Mergers, Auctions, and Innovation. We use a variety of examples and applications, and operate with modern tools (Game Theory) that facilitate decision making processes for individuals, policy makers and managers. The main goal of this course is to provide a basis for a good understanding of the logical mechanics, and to provide a good intuition in managerial economics and business decision making processes that facilitate the understanding of daily business problems. Learning Outcomes 1. Identify and explain logical mechanics that determine individuals’ choices and decisions.
2. Evaluate managerial economic problems to better identify daily business problems.
3. Apply key aspects such as marginal concepts and countervailing effects when proposing solutions.
4. Illustrate main mechanisms using graphs and apply basic knowledge of algebra and calculus to business problems. Credit Hours: 2.00
