PHYS 64500 - Electron Theory Of Solids I

Credit Hours: 3.00. Electronic energy bands in crystalline solids; crystal symmetry and Brillouin zones, approximate methods of calculation, electrons and holes under applied fields. Lattice dynamics and thermal conductivity. Electron-lattice interactions. Transport phenomena in metals and semi-conductors. Prerequisite: PHYS 54500 , PHYS 60100 , PHYS 66100 . Permission of instructor required. Typically offered Fall Spring.
