PHYS 65800 - Theoretical Techniques Of Elementary Particle Physics I

Credit Hours: 3.00. Theory and phenomenology of the standard model of elementary particle interactions. Electro-weak model of Glashow, Salam, and Weinberg: spontaneous symmetry breaking, mass generation, Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa mixing in charged weak current, path integral quantization, R3 gauge Feynman fules, renormalization. Parton model. Neutral current phenomenology. Comparison to high energy high precision electron-positron annihilation and deep inelastic scattering experiments: weak mixing angle, heavy top quark constraints. Prerequisite: PHYS 66200 , PHYS 66300 . Permission of instructor required. Typically offered Fall Spring.
