PHYS 66000 - Quantum Mechanics I Credit Hours: 3.00. Origins of the quantum theory, the uncertainty and complementarity principles. The Schrodinger equation and its solutions for simple physical systems. Mathematical formulation of the quantum theory. Applications: simple harmonic oscillator, theory of angular momentum, the hydrogen atom. Time-independent and time-dependent perturbation theory. The Pauli exclusion principle. Spin of the electron.
