ENGL 55700 - Nineteenth-Century African-American Narrative Credit Hours: 3.00. This course focuses on both fiction and nonfiction by a range of African American authors dating from the pre-Civil War years through the turn of the twentieth century. Appropriate for M.A. students seeking to fulfill 19th-century breadth requirements and/or build a foundation for future study in the field. Appropriate for Ph.D. students preparing for qualifying exams and/or preparing to write a dissertation in the field. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer.
