About Public Health
The Department of Public Health prepares students who have a passion for helping others to use science-based approaches to make healthier communities. Our faculty, students and alumni work as educators, researchers, practitioners, and policy makers to tackle challenges affecting the health and well-being of a variety of populations. We engage in groundbreaking, interdisciplinary research with individuals, families, communities, and societies to address the social determinants of health and health inequities at local, national and global levels. Our focus is on disease prevention and health promotion, and we are committed to social justice and the belief that health is a human right.
We offer a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in public health as well as a 4+1 Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. All undergraduate and graduate students can customize their course selections to match their particular interests in the field of public health and complete a practicum to gain real-world work experience in a public health setting. Graduates of Purdue University’s Department of Public Health are well positioned to start in a variety of public health work settings or to continue to graduate school or professional programs.
The department is a member of the Association of Schools and Programs in Public Health (ASPPH), and the Master of Public Health graduate program is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).
Join us to take your passion for helping others to the next level!
