About the English Program

As an English major, students learn skills in critical thinking and creative problem-solving, the ability to conduct research, facility with language and written and oral communication, and the capacity to explain complexities succinctly. You can choose from three B.A. programs: English Literature, Creative Writing, and Professional Writing.

Purdue has several student organizations for English students which include the Student Editing Student Association (SEPA), the Creative Writing Club, Haraka Writers, and Sigma Tau Delta.

The Purdue OWL offers a vast library of resources ranging from style guides to instructional material to assist Purdue students. OWL also is an international resource, with a Web site that receives 115 million pageviews each year from over 38 million unique users.

The OWL also employs both graduate and undergraduate students to work as writing consultants, and interested students from all majors and backgrounds are encouraged to visit the website to apply.
