The Department of Marketing at Purdue University’s Mitch Daniels School of Business prepares students to thrive in a rapidly evolving, data-driven marketplace by blending creativity with analytical rigor. The department is committed to innovation in an ever-changing industry, equipping students with the skills to understand consumer behavior, build brands, and drive organizational growth through strategic decision-making.

At the undergraduate level, the marketing curriculum provides a comprehensive foundation in key areas such as digital marketing, market research, branding, and consumer insights. Students learn how to design and evaluate marketing strategies while gaining hands-on experience with tools like social media analytics, online advertising, and data analysis. This applied approach ensures graduates are prepared to contribute immediately in roles such as marketing analysts, brand consultants, and digital marketers across a wide range of industries.

The department’s faculty are recognized experts in fields including pricing strategy, product development, digital marketing, and brand portfolio management. Their research addresses critical challenges facing modern businesses and informs classroom instruction, ensuring that students engage with current trends and emerging technologies. In addition, the department hosts seminars and speaker series that connect students with leading scholars and industry professionals.

Graduate education further enhances these capabilities through the STEM-designated Master of Science in Marketing. This program emphasizes analytics, technology, and customer experience, preparing students for leadership roles in consulting, product management, and data-driven marketing strategy. Coursework and experiential learning opportunities-such as case competitions, consulting projects, and internships-allow students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world business challenges.

Experiential learning is a defining feature across all programs. Through initiatives like marketing labs, simulations, and collaborative projects, students develop both technical and interpersonal skills. These experiences, combined with strong career support and industry connections, position graduates for success in a wide range of marketing careers.

In sum, Purdue’s Department of Marketing integrates analytical expertise, technological fluency and creative thinking to develop professionals who can adapt to - and lead in - the modern marketing landscape.
