Admission Requirements:
Minimum Requirements for the M.F.A. Degree Program in the Studio Arts or Design
- 4-year baccalaureate degree required.
- 3.0 cumulative GPA is required for unconditional admission. If recommended for admission, applicants with an undergraduate GPA lower than 3.0 will be offered a conditional admission.
- Field of study: most applicants have majored in either art or design or have equivalent experience in an art or design field. All applicants are expected to present a professional quality portfolio. Interior Design applicants must have a baccalaureate degree in Interior Design or a related field, such as Architecture.
- All applicants must have taken a minimum of 3 undergraduate credit hours in Western art history or design history. If recommended for admission, applicants who have not taken any coursework in Western art history or design history will be required to take AD 22700 - History Of Art Since 1400 to fulfill this curricular deficiency during their first year. The course may be taken on a Pass/No Pass basis. This course will not count toward fulfilling the 60-hour MFA degree requirements.

- 4-year baccalaureate degree required. Applicants must have a B.A. degree in art education or a B.A. degree in Art with teaching certification.
- 3.0 cumulative GPA is required for unconditional admission. If recommended for admission, applicants with an undergraduate GPA lower than 3.0 will be offered a conditional admission.
- All Art Education applicants must have taken minimum of 9 undergraduate hours in art or design history Applicants recommended for admission will be required to take additional courses to fulfill curricular deficiencies. These courses will not count toward fulfilling the 60-hour MFA degree requirements
Minimum Requirements for Admission to the Ph.D. Degree Program in Art Education
- M.A. degree required. Applicants must have an M.A. degree in art education or n M.A. degree in Art with teaching certification.
- 3.0 cumulative GPA is required for unconditional admission. Applicants recommended for admission that have a GPA lower than 3.0 will be offered a conditional admission.
- All applicants must have minimum of 3 years teaching art at the K-12 level.
