Entrepreneurship and Innovation Certificate


 

Earn a credential in entrepreneurship, similar to a minor.
Complete five courses, some of which may overlap with requirements in your major.

 

 

 

 

 

PURPOSE
The Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program empowers students to turn their innovative ideas into action. In this flexible program designed to complement any major, students will:
  • Learn how to evaluate and launch new venture opportunities
  • Develop viable business models through market research and financial analyses
  • Acquire the business literacy and professional skills demanded by today’s employers
 
ELIGIBILITY

Similar to a minor, the program is open to all undergraduates enrolled at Purdue’s West Lafayette campus who have at least four semesters remaining in their academic program.

Upon completion, students receive an official certificate, which is noted on their academic transcript. The program offers students a unique, multidisciplinary experience and benefits including:

ABOUT US

Purdue’s Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation is one of the largest, multidisciplinary entrepreneurship programs in the country, serving approximately 1,800 students from across campus each year. Annually, hundreds of Purdue graduates receive their certificates in addition to their diplomas at graduation. The program is administered through Purdue’s Office of the Provost and is governed by a Faculty Advisory Committee consisting of highly respected faculty and administrators from every college on campus.

Requirements for the Certificate


  • No application is required. Students simply enroll in the first introductory course, ENTR 20000- Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and work with their academic advisor to create an ideal plan of study.
  • In some case, students are permitted to substitute an additional capstone for one of the required option courses. A grade of C- or higher is required for ENTR designated courses. ENTR designated courses may be contracted to fulfill Honors courses requirements.



Students must complete five courses in the categories below, some of which may overlap with requirements in their major.

Two Introductory Core Courses


Core courses provide students with the fundamental language, knowledge, leadership, and communication skills related to entrepreneurship and innovation. These required core courses are offered solely by the Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program.

Two Option Courses


  • Option courses provide students with discipline or industry specific depth in areas that are relevant to entrepreneurship and/or innovation.
  • They are offered through the Certificate in Entrepreneurship an Innovation Program as well as departments across the university.

One Capstone Course


  • Capstone courses provide students with learning and professional experiences that can include developing business plans for new ventures, involvement in product and technology innovation, or engaging with businesses and non-profit organizations.
  • They are offered through the Certificate in Entrepreneurship an Innovation Program as well as departments across the university.
