Environmental Politics and Policy Concentration for Political Science


The environmental policy field is a growing area of importance as governments grapple with an expanding number of environmental challenges, ranging from global climate change to endangered species protections to pollution threats to air and water quality. This 12-credit concentration offers political science majors an opportunity to build a distinct expertise in the key actors, issues, policy designs, and governance principles in this area. Students who complete this concentration may apply their knowledge in environmental policy-related careers in the public sector, in law, or also in the private sector working in government relations, compliance, or other positions with firms facing important environmental challenges.

POL 42900 and POL 52000 are variable title courses and may apply to the minor when the topic relates to Environmental Politics and Policy.
