Major Change (CODO) Requirements

Purdue students interested in changing their major should meet with their current academic advisor to discuss their options and begin the online process. Once the student’s Major Change (CODO) has been processed, students will receive an email with instructions to authorize the change.

Students will need to meet the criteria below to be eligible for this major. A student’s catalog term, typically the semester you started at Purdue, will be used to determine the Major Change criteria that applies to you. Students can find their catalog term at the top of their MyPurduePlan below the degree progress bar.

Students changing their major to a space restricted program, as designated by SPACE AVAILABLE BASIS ONLY, need to have their Curricular Change Request (CCR) submitted by their home college/school by 5pm the Thursday of Finals week for requests effective the following term to be considered.

General Requirements

• Minimum Semesters:  1
• Minimum Purdue Main Campus Credit Hours (West Lafayette/Indianapolis): 12
• Minimum Cumulative GPA:  3.5

Other Requirements

• Students are accepted for effective terms FALL, SPRING, and SUMMER
• Major is open with no anticipated space restrictions.
• Students must be in good academic standing (not on academic notice)
• B or better in any completed Management Admission Index (MAI) course(s). MAI courses are as follows:

  • SCLA 10200  or COM 11400  or COM 21700  or EDPS 31500  

  • ECON 25100  

  • ENGL 10600 , ENGL 10800 , SCLA 10100  or HONR 19903  

  • MA 16010  or MA 16100  or MA 16500  

  • MGMT 20000  or MGMT 21200  

• C- or better in any completed Daniels School of Business course(s) (MGMT, ECON, OBHR) excluding MAI courses (ECON 25100  and MGMT 20000 ).
• Management Admission to upper division note: The MAI must consist of at least (2) Daniels School of Business graded courses (MGMT 20000  and ECON 25100 ) or three (3) Purdue graded MAI courses.
• Management Admission Course Re-take allowance of MAI courses depends on the number of courses taken at Purdue and/or Daniels School of Business, no more than 2 or 3 MAI courses (or their equivalents) may be taken two times each for a grade. See our retake policy located on the Daniels School of Business Advising Policies website to determine your eligibility.
• The most recent (not best) earned grade will be used to calculate the MAI. Once a letter grade in a course has been earned at Purdue West Lafayette, transfer credit for the same course cannot be used when calculating the MAI. The Purdue West Lafayette grade will be used in the MAI calculation.
