About the Concentration
Geomatics engineers manage global geospatial resources and infrastructure. They design, develop, and operate systems for collecting, analyzing, and utilizing geospatial information about the land, infrastructure, the oceans, natural resources, and the environment.
In the Civil Engineering’s Geomatics Engineering emphasis area, students will have the opportunity to study property boundary determination, digital mapping, geodesy, geographic information systems (GIS), global positioning systems (GPS), land information management, photogrammetry, and remote sensing. The Geomatics faculty are dedicated to effective teaching and cutting-edge research.
Required Courses (21-30 credits)
At the master’s level, both a non-thesis and a thesis option are available. The 30-credit requirement for a master’s degree is satisfied by completing 30 course credits (non-thesis option) or 21 course credits plus a thesis (9 credits) for the for thesis-option.
