About the Program


The Literacy and Language Education concentration for the Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction is ideal for K-12 teachers and prospective scholars who are interested in teaching, research, and scholarship. The program uses a mixture of historical, quantitative, and qualitative methodologies.

Master’s students can pursue a thesis or non-thesis option. See below for each set of requirements.

30 Credits Required

Literacy and Language Electives (9 credits)


Students should choose courses beyond EDCI 50000 to fulfill this requirement.

Electives (0-6 credits)


Students not pursuing a thesis MS should take 6 credits of electives in consultation with their advisor.

Thesis Research (6 credits)


Only required for thesis MS students.
