Law and Society Minor

Location(s): West Lafayette


About the Minor


Law and society is a sociology major emphasizing concepts, theories, and research methods as applied to the study of law and law-related structures and processes. Coursework encompasses a variety of areas including deviant behavior, juvenile delinquency, the role of law in society, family law, and the sociology of police. These areas of study are intertwined with other crucial sociological concerns.

Requirements for the Minor (15 credits)


A. Required Foundation Course (3 credits)


B. Required Law and Process Courses (9 credits)


Notes


  • 50% of credits for CLA minors must come from Purdue University.
  • Law and Society minors must earn a “C-” or better. The P/NP option is not available to complete this minor.
  • Students may not major or minor in Sociology, Law and Society, and Digital Criminology.

College of Liberal Arts Pass/No Pass Option Policy


  • P/NP cannot be used to satisfy Liberal Arts Core, Liberal Arts major, minor, or certificate requirements.
