Program Learning Outcomes

Identify key film terminology, genres, movements, historical developments, etc., across global cinema.
Implement principles of film form (e.g., cinematography, editing, sound, narrative structure) to critique individual films and scenes.
Analyze how the production and interpretation of films are shaped by cultural, social, political, historical, and technological contexts.
Critique films, and film scholarship, using established critical theories (e.g., formalism, auteur theory, feminist and postcolonial theory), supporting judgments with evidence.
Construct original written, visual, or audiovisual work (e.g., critical essays, storyboards, short films, or video essays) that demonstrates informed critical or creative engagement with cinema for various historical, social, and/or cultural points of view.
