Microbiology Concentration for Biology, BS

About the Concentration

Microbiology is the biological study of microscopic organisms including viruses, bacteria, and fungi. Students in this concentration can expect to study topics such as microbial growth, nutrition, metabolism, pathogenesis, morphogenesis, and production of antibiotics. The microbiology concentration provides excellent preparation for advanced study or direct employment in biological sciences, biomedical research, and many health-related professions. Students will gain a broad understanding of biology at multiple scales (through the primary major), while specializing in microorganisms important for health, agriculture, and biotechnology.

Concentration Requirements (11 credits)
