About the Certificate


The new Foundations in Artificial Intelligence for Technical Professionals graduate certificate is designed for individuals with a strong background in computer science or engineering who wish to build a robust technical foundation in Artificial Intelligence. Leveraging existing prerequisite knowledge in Python programming, linear algebra, calculus, statistics, algorithms, and software engineering, this certificate will provide the essential theoretical understanding and practical skills to design, implement, and critically analyze AI systems.

Program Learning Outcomes


Students will:

  • Design and implement data-driven AI/ML solutions, effectively formulating complex real-world problems into amenable tasks, and applying core machine learning and data mining algorithms with proficiency in programming languages and frameworks.
  • Critically analyze diverse AI and machine learning algorithms, discerning their underlying mathematical and statistical principles, strengths, weaknesses, and applicability to various data types and problem domains.
  • Evaluate the performance, fairness, and ethical implications of AI/ML models using appropriate metrics and identifying potential biases, and critically assess the broader legal, regulatory, and governance strategies for responsible AI design and deployment.
