About the Concentration
The Construction Management and Pre-Construction Concentration prepares students to lead and manage construction projects from early planning and design coordination through financial oversight, risk management, and project execution. The concentration emphasizes the critical pre-construction phase-where cost estimating, scheduling, constructability analysis, documentation, and risk mitigation decisions shape project success.
Students develop applied expertise in construction materials and methods, digital modeling and BIM-enabled documentation, pre-construction planning, company financial management, and legal and contractual risk considerations. Coursework integrates hands-on labs, OSHA 10-hour certification, project controls, financial forecasting, and stakeholder coordination within commercial, residential, heavy/civil, and industrial contexts.
By combining technical construction knowledge with business, financial, and risk leadership skills, this concentration prepares graduates to manage complex construction projects, improve project outcomes, and support organizational performance in a technology-driven built environment.
