About the Concentration
The Design Thinking concentration within the Human Resource Development (HRD) B.S. equips students with a human-centered, innovation-driven approach to solving organizational challenges. Grounded in empathy, creativity, and iterative problem-solving, this concentration prepares future HR and talent development professionals to design learning experiences, improve workplace systems, and lead change effectively.
Students learn to apply design thinking principles to workforce development, training strategy, organizational culture, and employee engagement. Through project-based learning, they develop skills in needs assessment, ideation, prototyping, facilitation, and solution testing-ensuring that HR initiatives are both innovative and aligned with business goals.
Graduates of this concentration are prepared to serve as strategic partners who can identify complex organizational problems, design impactful interventions, and foster cultures of continuous improvement and innovation.
