About the Concentration
The Healthcare Management concentration prepares Human Resource Development (HRD) students to apply core people-development, leadership, and organizational effectiveness principles within healthcare environments. Grounded in human development, healthcare leadership, and occupational safety culture, the concentration provides students with an understanding of how workforce systems function in high-reliability, service-oriented settings where safety, teamwork, and continuous learning are essential.
Students examine how onboarding, training, leadership development, and employee engagement practices support quality care delivery and organizational performance. Emphasis is placed on the human factors and safety dynamics that shape healthcare workplaces, including interdisciplinary collaboration, regulatory expectations, and culture development.
By integrating HRD competencies with healthcare context, this concentration helps students translate evidence-based workforce development strategies into settings where effective people systems directly influence service quality, safety outcomes, and long-term organizational sustainability.
