About the Program


The Sustainable Building Design and Operation degree provides students with the opportunity to engage in a wide range of interdisciplinary topics focused on integrating sustainability into engineering practices, challenges, and solutions. The need for expertise in sustainability engineering, with skills in energy transition, manufacturing, supply chain, modernized mobility, resiliency, adaptation and workforce development prove the need for a sustainability engineering degree that will provide students the opportunity to engage in a wide range of interdisciplinary topics focused on integrating sustainability into engineering practices, challenges and solutions.

Program Learning Outcomes


Students will:

  • Demonstrate the ability to design energy-efficient, sustainable and comfortable buildings for any location and climate.
  • Gain expertise in building energy and performance modeling using of state-of-the-art simulation tools.
  • Utilize technical knowledge to integrate building envelope, mechanical systems and smart buildings controls for optimized overall building operation.
  • Balance indoor environment quality (thermal, lighting, acoustics and air quality) and building energy performance.
