About the Concentration

This 12-credit concentration offers undergraduate students training in the Anthropology of Health. Cultural and biological factors interact to produce variation in human health outcomes around the world. The Department of Anthropology currently houses the Ethnolab (a dedicated space to support qualitative ethnographic research projects), the BioAnthropology Immuno-Nutrition Lab,  (a collaborative wet lab space to support research in BioAnthropology, Immunology, and Nutrition), and a Space for Practice (a collaborative space to engage with anthropological practitioners). In these spaces, faculty and students can work on health-related academic and applied research and projects that dovetail with departmental signature strengths in Applied Anthropology and Public Engagement; Health and Well-Being; Identity, Heritage, and Social Justice; and Science and Technology. Anthropological concepts and methods will prepare students for a variety of careers related to health.
