Arabic Language and Culture Minor

Location(s): West Lafayette


About the Minor


Before undertaking this minor, the student must establish proficiency equivalent to Arabic Level II. Proficiency may be established by taking and passing ARAB 10200 , by examination, or by other evidence acceptable to the Department.

Requirements for the Minor (15 credits)


A. Required Arabic Language Courses (6 credits)


B. Arabic Literature and Culture Courses (6 credits)

Notes


  • 50% of credits for CLA minors must come from Purdue University.
  • Students must have a minimum GPA of B- (2.67) in courses used for the Arabic minor and may not count a course with a grade lower than “C.” The P/NP option is not available for this minor.
  • No Departmental credit beyond ARAB 10200  or credit by exam may be counted toward the minor.
  • Before undertaking this minor, the student must establish proficiency equivalent to Arabic Level II.  Proficiency may be established by taking and passing ARAB 10200  or by examination, or by other evidence acceptable to the department.
  • Students who take courses from the above Study Plan to get the Arabic minor cannot apply them at the same time to fulfil the required courses for the minor in Islamic studies.

College of Liberal Arts Pass/No Pass Option Policy


  • P/NP cannot be used to satisfy Liberal Arts Core, Liberal Arts major, minor, or certificate requirements.
