About the ProgramStudents study human society and culture by investigating how individuals and social groups relate to one another. The primary aim of coursework is to provide students with an understanding of social institutions and organizations, social behavior and social structures, cultures, and the theories and methods for studying them. Please visit Sociology for more information. 3 Year DegreesA variety of majors in Liberal Arts offer students the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree in three years, allowing students to enter the work force or graduate school a year earlier than traditional plans of study.

Degree Requirements
120 Credits RequiredLiberal Arts Core Curriculum
Each liberal arts major is designed as a four-year plan of study and includes three types of courses: Major, Core, and Elective. Most students take five courses per semester, with some of each type.
Professional academic advisors meet individually with each of our students on a regular basis to help with course selection, academic planning, and career development, as well as to help students find additional resources on campus.

Departmental/Program Major Course Requirements (33 credits)
A: Required Courses (12 credits)
B: Select 7 courses from the following (21 credits)
There MUST be at least one (1) course per Area; and at least 3 hours MUST be at the 50000-level. Area 1 - Institutions (at least 3 credits)
Area 2 - Differentiation (at least 3 credits)
Area 3 - Problems (at least 3 credits)

Notes
Students must earn a “C-” or better in all major courses. The P/NP option is not available for this requirement. Double majors in Law & Society and Sociology are NOT allowed. SOC 39000 cannot be substituted for any course required for the major. 2.0 Graduation GPA required for Bachelor of Arts degree. 32 credit hours of Purdue coursework at the 30000 level or higher required for Bachelor of Arts degree. Liberal Arts offers a streamlined play of study for students pursuing a second degree outside CLA. Contact the CLA Advising Office for more information. Foreign Language Courses
