Admission Requirements:

Sociology Master’s Degree Program Basic Requirements

Applicants to the Master’s Degree Program in Sociology must have established English proficiency and completed at least 9 credit hours of Sociology, including at least one Sociological Methods course, one Sociological Theory course, and one Social Statistics course.

  • Undergraduate Cumulative Grade Point Average:
    3.0 or equivalent required
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE):
    Required – no minimum score has been set

International Applicant Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Cumulative Grade Point Average:
    3.0 or equivalent required
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE):
    Required – no minimum score set
  • TOEFL for Non-Native English Speakers:
    Minimum Internet-Based Test (IBT) Overall Score Required: 78
    With the following minimum section requirements:
    Reading: 19
    Listening: 14
    Speaking: 25
    Writing: 18
  • IELTS (Academic Module):
    An alternative to the TOEFL, scores of 8.0 or higher will be accepted

    Master’s in Sociology required, with a grade point average of 3.25 or equivalent
