Major Change (CODO) Requirements

Purdue students interested in changing their major should meet with their current academic advisor to discuss their options and begin the online process. Once the student’s Major Change (CODO) has been processed, students will receive an email with instructions to authorize the change.

Students will need to meet the criteria below to be eligible for this major. A student’s catalog term, typically the semester you started at Purdue, will be used to determine the Major Change criteria that applies to you. Students can find their catalog term at the top of their MyPurduePlan below the degree progress bar.

Majors

• Computer and Information Technology, BS   (CNIT)
• Cybersecurity, BS   (CSEC)
• Computing Infrastructure and Network Engineering Technology, BS    (INET)
• Data Analytics, Technologies, and Applications, BS  (DATA)
• Systems Analysis and Design, BS   (SAAD)

General Requirements

• Minimum Semesters:  1
• Minimum West Lafayette Credit Hours:  9
• Minimum GPA:  3.0

Course Requirements

C- or better in the following:

• CNIT 17600 - Information Technology Architectures or
• CNIT 18000 - Introduction To Systems Development or
• CNIT 18200 - System And Organizational Security
• Note: Must be taken at Purdue West Lafayette or Polytechnic Statewide sites: Anderson, Columbus or Kokomo. CNIT 17600 or CNIT 18200 recommended for students interested in Cybersecurity.

• ENGL 10600 - First-Year Composition or
• ENGL 10800 - Accelerated First-Year Composition or
• ENGL 11000 - American Language And Culture For International Students I or
• SCLA 10100 - Transformative Texts, Critical Thinking And Communication I: Antiquity To Modernity or
• HONR 19903 - Interdisciplinary Approaches In Writing or
• COM 11400 - Fundamentals Of Speech Communication or
• SCLA 10200 - Transformative Texts, Critical Thinking And Communication II: Modern World

• MA 16010 - Applied Calculus I or
• MA 16100 - Plane Analytic Geometry And Calculus I or
• MA 16500 - Analytic Geometry And Calculus I

Other Requirements

• Students are accepted for FALL, SPRING, and SUMMER
• Students are admitted on a SPACE AVAILABLE BASIS ONLY. Space is limited.
• Students must be in good academic standing (not on academic probation)
• All major change (CODO) requests must be submitted by 5pm (Eastern) the Thursday of finals week for the upcoming term.
